Our Reservoirs and Watershed

Our Reservoirs and Watershed

Four interconnected, gravity-fed reservoirs — Scotts, Browns, Milne and Grupes — in the Silvermine River basin form the heart of our watershed.

The FDWD collects water running through more than ten square miles of watershed, from Lewisboro, NY, to New Caanan, Ridgefield, and Wilton, CT. Our four reservoirs, along with the Kellogg-Deering wellfield, channel water into our treatment facility. The Kellogg-Deering wellfield pumps water out of the aquifer in central Norwalk.

At both locations water is treated according to strict federal and state guidelines before it then flows into our network of water mains and to your home. We insure quality water through rigorous maintenance and planning that is aligned with our long-term sustainable approach to our watershed.
